Sanook.com Mother’s Day essay contest
Bangkok — As part of its campaign to promote the correct use of Thai, Sanook.com is holding a Mother’s Day essay contest for the National Mother’s Day. Open for entries from now until 31 September, the contest is for students at all levels as well as the general public, with scholarships and honor plaques by Sanook.com and the Ministry of Culture as the winners’ rewards.
“Sanook.com recently launched a project entitled ‘Conserve the Thai language with Sanook! Knowledge Search’ to encourage people, and especially the young, to understand the importance of the correct use of the Thai language,” said Mr Torboon Puangmaha, CEO of Sanook.com.
“On the occasion of the National Mother’s day, 12 August, we encouraged everybody; students from primary and secondary schools, higher education and members of the public, to join this essay contest with the opportunity of winning awards. Entries can be submitted through www.sanook.com only.”
The essay contest’s topics were designated by the Royal Institute and divided by education levels. “My mother” is for primary school students with the first prize of a scholarship worth 3,000 baht and a QQ doll. “The value of mother’s milk” is the topic for secondary school students. The winner will also receive a 3,000 baht scholarship and a QQ doll.
“Mother of the nation” is for students in higher education, with the winner receiving a 3,000 baht scholarship and a QQ doll. The topic for the general public is “Gratitude to mother”, and the prize will be a 3,000 baht gift voucher.
Schools and universities attended by the award-winning students will be presented with an honor plaque by Sanook.com and the Ministry of Culture. An adjudication panel from the Ministry of Culture and the Royal Institute will judge the participants’ Thai language skills, appropriateness of context and creativity in storytelling.
Those interested in taking part in the contest should register for application at http://rakpasathai.sanook.com/rakpasa_activities and choose their topic by education level.
